Description

Tahoe 1711 is a router for connecting LANs over an E1 link terminated with a G.703 interface, using all or selected timeslots. It has one G.703 port with an RJ-45 connector and one 10/100Base-T Ethernet port.

Configuration

One or two commands prepare the router for most applications. Configuration is done from the built-in LCD display and keypad, via the serial console or via telnet.

Features

The link runs synchronous PPP, Frame Relay or Cisco HDLC. The router can also work as a transparent bridge between two LANs: both networks then form a single whole, devices see each other as if on one local network, and the IP addresses can belong to one subnet.

The G.703 controller supports CRC4 framing, HDB3 coding and Long Haul and Short Haul modes with different receiver sensitivity. It allows any combination of the 31 timeslots to be used, or unframed operation.

On top of that, a firewall, a DHCP/BOOTP server and VLAN support. The full list of features is in the Technical data tab.

Several hardware and software watchdogs monitor the device, from basic processor functions to network communication. The metal enclosure is designed for years of continuous operation.
